SustainU Fabric Swatch Mailer

My final project at SustainU Clothing was to create a fabric swatch mailer to send out to prospective clients. SustainU offers several different brands, styles, and blends of shirt in a wide array of colors, and they wanted a way to show a sample of their look and feel. Most fabric swatches are glued flat to paper which doesn’t let you properly feel the cloth between your fingers, so they wanted the fabric to be free-hanging.

I had the idea for a postcard size matchbook-style fold that would hold itself closed with the fabric and information indside and mailing marks on the back. I screen printed the blend info on extra t-shirts to also give clients an idea of how their final product would look. Then I attached interfacing to the back and cut them into strips. The paper shell was printed on French Paper Co. recycled paper to further fit the company’s eco-friendly and USA-made message, and the strips were sewed into the fold.
